With the Plan Colombia aid winding down, and Chávez in neighboring Venezuela buying sophisticated weaponry, Colombian President Alvaro Uribe wanted to keep his U.S. allies close. Colombia has more important things to worry about, in rebuilding the country that the threats of Hugo Chavez' very unstable regime.

Chavez is a non issue – the borders with Colombia are already closed – no oil or food is in exchange at this very moment – Venezuela will in time become another Cuba with no exports other than low grade crude that sells at half of what is stated worldwide. Add to that a blockade of pissed off importers that lost their corporate entity to nationalization and you have a starving nation in decline.
They can not even feed themselves – perhaps they can subsist on tar. |
