NDC Activist Calls For Closer Collaboration Between Pacific And African Universities

Chris Addy-Nayo, a member of the NDC has called for collaboration between African and Pacific Island Countries Universities. He made the call at the 2nd EU-Pacific Business Forum held in Port Vila, the capital of the South Pacific Island country of the Republic of Vanuatu.

Selfie inside an active volcano

There were a couple of volcanic eruptions last week in Iceland and Papua New Guinea. Luckily for Canadian adventurer George Kourounis, this one did not erupt as he dropped himself into an active volcano for a jaw dropping selfie! Currently known for his television series Angry Planet, Kourounis descended into the Marum crater - a boiling lava lake situated within the Ambrym volcano in Vanuatu to take a self-portrait.

Cable compendium: a guide to the week's submarine and terrestrial developments

Digicel Group chairman, Denis O'Brien has called for the deployment of an undersea cable running from Papua New Guinea through the Pacific and back to Sydney, Australia to improve regional connectivity. Speaking at the Private Sector Forum of the United Nations Small Island Developing States conference last week, O'Brien proposed the creation of a public-private partnership to deploy a new subsea cable that would connect Papua New Guinea, Palau, Federated States of Micronesia, Nauru, Solomon Islands, Vanuatu, New Caledonia, Wallis and Futuna, Fiji, Tonga, Samoa and Cook Islands , before reaching Australia .
