Yet another disaster for British soldiers and thier families as a result of the Bush/Blair alliance. Pair of cowards and freeloaders. Brown still sucks up to the disaster.

The whole debacle was American made from day one. They should have been left all alone to sort out the mess they created, over DECADES.

Disgusted. Former Royal Marine.

we will continue to lose troops until America has the bottle to admit another failure. Anybody who thinks they are safer at home because of Afghanistan is an idiot.

Our troops have captured and secured most of the opium fields in Afghanistan. Thanks guys, we're not wearing poppies for nothing.

Meanwhile, their country is a seething, overflowing cauldron of every piece of subhumanity you could imagine in your wildest nightmare. And, it is a police state to boot. If you criticize the Muslim invasion, the j/ews who run and ruin it will have you locked up. Go figure.

I too have been in favour of a pull-out because of poor US leadership. I thought Zakarias views were interesting, but they are not being echoed in the USA,(apparently)..

The US leadership still cannot work out the basic lesson of Vietnam – do not fight to inflict a corrupt and ineffective government on another nation...

US commentators think the US leadership are on a learning curve in Afghanistan? At least Pres Obama is right in having the strategy in place before investing in it. The only development that really might turn the situation around is if he came up with a strategy for a better and stable Afghanistan in which the voters of the world felt some confidence.

The problem with getting out is how to do it without further problems for the Pakistanis. There seems the risk of leaving them with unsolvable ones?(That is the opinion of virtually all informed commentators, including Musharaff I think, who did not want western troops in Afghanistan in the first place). That we are now stuck with responsibility but no control – junior partner to the USA – is the fault of Govt and Opposition policy opinions.

Daily Horoscope for December 1

Cancer

The nurturing Moon in your eleventh house of friends and associates, possibly brings a mentor into your life. There is always much wisdom that can be gained by observing the lives of others; you can avoid certain mistakes by watching them made by others. In this case, you may be faced with financial or sexual issues as Neptune and Chiron shake things up in your eighth house of sex, money, and power... if the stakes are high, you need to think twice. The Moon enters Gemini as the day goes on, causing you to look within.
