Tonga wants king stripped of power

TONGA...as in Tongans overseas, or at home..half Tongans, Tongans wannabes, Tongan men, Tongan women ...whattttt...u can't just state it like that makes it sound so final...i know there's much debated views over this and as much as we all want to see change swept over our shores...it can't be done overnight and all for the glory of politics...but that's just me

Regardless of how you view us Tongan wannabes; It takes politicking to advance causes in government. It's the majority of voices that affect politicians and policies. It's unfortunate that that is not happening in Tonga soon enough.

i wouldn't say it's not happening here as everyone here knows....it's happening and it's tearing the hair out of everyone from parliament to government to where ever and the sad part is is that it's us mere peasants who have no voice in politics that always get crush to advance causes in government..

More reasons for you to support the movement in a peaceful way my friend. The peoples' voices can be easily heard with the stroke of a pen..

Per the story, the king may be willing to hear the reform commission's findings, which is a great start.

Hence, from top to bottom, every major head of government office should be elected by the people vice appointments from the king.

believe me im all for change but only if the cause and the people pushing it are sincere and have the country's best interest at heart..which is the major conflict of interest here these days...makes it hard to see the hypocrites from those who really care 'bout this land

Uso, you'll surprise yourself at the sincerity of the majority that put God and country first!!! I don't think any loving Tongan in his/her heart and soul would continue to allow the behavior of these greedy few, for them to think that it's business as usual nor allow them to suppress the voices of the majority.

As for hypocrites that are hard to identify if they truly love the land (or people) or not, they're no different than fork-tongued conniving poisonous snakes!!! They may hide but are easy to spot.

Crush them with tender love, eat the meat if you have the stomach for it, save the skins to make a belts with, then throw the rest of the trash to the fire... I'm talking about the snakes now!!! LOL

...By the people and for the people. Reforms on the island may not affect me personally, but I hope you don't feel that "we" outsiders are intruding by expressing support?

That's the beauty of true democracy; freedom to express freely without repercussions or backlash from the "Big Kahuna". Simply stated: In a true democracy, every citizen participates in the governing process.

As you can tell already, some of us are very good at "Monday Night Quarterbacking" from afar, but it won't stop us from cheering you on, especially with your reform endeavors...

At this point, I've thrown in my two cents worth already, and I'm more inclined now to let the "big boys" iron out their differences about the reform report. After all, no matter how loud we holler and scream, them boys won't give a hoot since we're just peons from the lowest of class, aren't we???... LOL I'll drink to that... SALUTE!!!
