If PR goes independent,,,would the USA give it a lump sum of money like 65 billion to get it started? I have heard this, not sure if anyone else has.

I heard it from the populares. It is in their "wish list", but at the rate their "banana republic" dreams and the downfall of the dollar is going...they might as well ask it in "euros".

Washington, in the next 9 years is going to send the ELA over $141 billion dls. during the next 9 yrs (including an increase in Medicare and Medicaid).

Do you think the populares, are willing to settle for 65 when they can get over twice that amount, with their little "banana republic" wannabe?

Lets get over the status hogwash and begin with real politics. The problem here in Puerto Rico is that every political party creates programs and laws that serves their respective believes and not the people of Puerto Rico. The Populares, which is a socialist movement, loves to live in the colony while playing to the independent nation with Uncle Sam's money. While the pnps loves to play to the state while living in the colony. At the same time they alternate the political control and the end product has been zero growth, in economy, social improvement and education. So lets kill the status once and for all by taking a stand and working on it.

In the next referendum on "status", the issue will be if we (Americans residing in the island) want to continue with the current, territorial relationship (with the USA), yes or no?

Jorge

What remains to be seen is if it is going to be federally or locally funded.

If it is locally funded, as the plebiscites were in the past, it will have no value. Only a Federally funded one will have any meaning in Congress.

Everyone of them is valued. And believe me, if the majority of the people vote on a change...it will be heard around the world! and get congressional attention.

The populares are desperate....it is laughable and sad at the same time.

Jorge

They ran out of time and history caught them off guard.

Daily Horoscope for December 1

Sagittarius

As much as the robust Archer would like to indulge, today you must mind your health. If you go out to celebrate the holidays, go easy on the rich foods and spirits. Too much alcohol and you might find yourself saying the absolute wrong thing to the right person, thus blowing what could be a perfectly lovely evening. Strive for moderation.
