The next question to ask is whether the accident could have been prevented? Could a case of negligence be made?

NO! Gasoline MUST be spilled when filling a tank. This accident couldn't have been prevented. One must expect enough gasoline to be spilled to run into a drainage ditch. Regrettably, this may happen every day at this petroleum tank farm. Remember the fire at the electric generator nearby that was supplied by this tank farm? "...fuel was spilled while a tank was being filled at the facility." Just as I speculated--incompetence. Maybe when the gasoline was spilled the responsible person thought that it would be blamed on someone else? And where are all of those who were so sure it was sabotage? Where are those who thought it had to be terrorism? Just common incompetence. |
