TAKE NOTE: 1)The road in question is widest highway in the country. 2)It is the most accident-prone national road in the country. 3) Last year, Catholic leaders vehemently opposed a proposed Quezon City council ordinance that sought to name the avenue after INC founder and Ka Erdy’s father, Felix Manalo. 4) This time it will be for Erdy.

FROM THE STORY:
When first presented to the city council, the proposed ordinance renaming the avenue as Felix Manalo Avenue was opposed by Catholic church leaders led by Novaliches Bishop Antonio R. Tobias.
“Pleasing the INC could be politically rewarding. But offending the Catholic church is political suicide,” commented Majority Leader Ariel Inton after Liban decided to recall the proposal.
In a letter to Vice Mayor Herbert Bautista, Tobias pointed out that there are three “major” Roman Catholic churches — St. Peter Parish; Kristong Hari Paris and Sto. Nino de Leyte Shrine — situated along the avenue.

Will that road be named after Erdy Manalo now> Last year, it was proposed to be named after Felix Manalo, the father of Erdy Manalo but it was junked.

I do not understand the need for the road to be renamed. It is a complete waste of time, energy and sanity. In the midst of a great typhoon, overpopulation, unemployment, underemployment, war, corruption and high crime rate they have the time to make such an idiotic bill.

What is in the name? Let them be. Anyway, roads are subject to destruction by typhoon and earthquake.
Whoever is left standing strong after typhoons, that will be the winner.
I saw among the debris of the typhoons all over the Philippines, the statue of the blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Lorenzo Ruiz and Statue of Santo Nino standing tall and strong amidst the strong.
For me, whoever will be able to feed the hungry and help the victims should get the name. Go ahead and have a contest. This would be a good display of strength and compassion.

am not really concerned about whether its the largest road ... what I would like to point out is this :'the young Arroyo and other co-authors said the late Ka Erdy deserved recognition for his huge contributions to the “spiritual and moral well-being” of millions of Filipinos who are now members of the INC, which ranks second to Catholic in terms of following.' What was his "huge" ???? contributions to the spiritual and moral well-being???? of millions of Filipinos ???? I doubt if there's one, except that he turned most into.... If the young Arroyo claims that INC ranks second to Catholic in terms of population, i wonder why Philippines has not yet turned into a populace of morally well beings because of their teachings(???) Why the waste???? it takes a lot of money to pass this bill... and for what??? in exchange for favors? Oh pls don't be fooled with fake numbers Mr. Arroyo

This is not an issue between Catholics and Iglesia ni Cristo. The Catholics do not have a proposal to rename Commonwealth Ave. This should not be an issue in the first place as there are more important matters that should be given priority by the city council.

Jane Abao, Renaming the Avenue for Bro. Felix or for Bro. Erdy does not matter to us!!! What should be inculcated in the mind of the public is that the Iglesia Ni Cristo has nothing to do with the proposal!!! The proposal came from Roman Catholics and no Iglesia Ni Cristo is involved!!! So, please don't raise an alarm!!! We are not really interested in things that will come to pass!!! Our hope is based on the promises to the Iglesia Ni Cristo that our ultimate victory will be that crown of life on Judgment Day!!! The road in question may be the widest in the country but your body exceeds it in girth because you don't know how to count calories and basic addition!!! If it is the most accident-prone, then blame it to the failures of the Roman Catholic Church and your "False Sinkhole" cult in instilling discipline!!! The prison cells of the Philippines are full of these undisciplined people yet none of these were being expelled by the Roman Catholic Church!!! Eliseo Fernando Soriano will soon join this cadre of the undisciplined and he will be well-off because of the ready supply of lovers!!! It is not unusual for the Roman Catholic Church to oppose the Iglesia Ni Cristo for there is already a historical basis on this!!! Remember, the angry Padre Damaso had the father of Crisostomo Ibarra, Don Francisco, thrown into the lake after his body was exhumed from a Roman Catholic Cemetery!!! If the Roman Catholic Church could oppose and hurt their own members at well then there is no reason why she would not do the same to others!!! I am just hoping that all of you will be reading the book entitled "THE ODESSA FILES" BY FREDERICK FORSYTHE!!! In this book, the crimes of the Roman Catholic bishops in the Vatican are eneumerated!!! This is about the second world war and after wherein the Roman Catholic Church helped the leaders of Nazi Germany to escape from ALLIED WAR CRIMES PROSECUTION by hiding them in Latin America!!!

Padre Damaso, Crisostomo Ibarra, etc. cannot become historical basis as they are only works of fiction. They are characters of Rizal's novel, Noli Me Tangere. The Odessa File likewise is fiction, product only of Frederick Forsyth's imagination.

The bible never mentioned of a Holy Child building a shrine!!! These are all falsities of the Roman Catholic Church!!! Therefore, the argument of Tobias is a falsity!!! Where was this bishop though at the height of the typhoon and after ONDOY??? Where were the women around him most of the time like Sor Soledad??? Where were they when their members were on top of the roofs??? Where were their wood carvings who were said to be miraculous??? Why were they floating towards the dumpster of the Pacific Ocean when they are said to be miraculous??? Bishop Tobias of Novaliches does not have the answers!!! He has all the envy, jealousy, lies, and deceptions!!! What a universal scam for the word Catholic means universal!!!

And the remaining 50% goes to those who were brownnosing them for centuries!!!

So tell me, what has YOUR church leaders done when Ondoy came? Did they open their million-peso churches for the victims of the calamity? Did they give free food, clothes? Besides, this is not the point of the thread. The point is that it's inane to rename any road after your leader. This country has been through a calamity; hundreds died and thousands of lives have been affected - and what do these congressmen do? They get a bill to rename an already perfectly named road. And don't even say that it's not INC's doing - this road name changing situation. Who on earth's can it possibly be? Of course it's INC's! Everybody knows that. Everybody knows that politicians want to be in the INC's good graces because they think they're great in number. They aren't many enough to warrant a landslide. But they are POWERFUL enough to do so. And I don't mean that in a good way. When the elections are near, Philippine politics become even darker and more muddled up.

Why, ELIAS IBARRA? Don't you think that more Catholics abroad are sending their donations? Where are the billions of Erano Manalo, definitely not included from the donation counts from televisions?
They need a margin of votes on top of their ballots. Scared? They need the INC that can summon their INC registered voters to change their votes overnight. Everyone running for government office has their own statistics of possible votes from their own and party's area or province. Just imagine how their number will shrink after this accounted votes from INC turn tides overnight. How do INC know whom to join force with? Just do the math!
INC is really the political Church!

The real name is Rizalino L. Arrabis, retired US Navy living in Guam. He lives in those books of Rizal, which is why he calls himself Ibarra, that intellectual and revolutionary.
