Nigeria Says Terror Suspects Arrested
Nigerian security agents arrested several men who allegedly had materials for making explosives, and evidence has linked them to the al-Qaida terror network, a senior security official said Monday.
The suspects, all Nigerians, were arrested in the states of Kano, Kaduna and Yobe, located in the country's predominantly Muslim north, said Ado Muazu, spokesman for Nigeria's special state security police.
'Investigations show they have links to the al-Qaida network,' Muazu said, without elaborating or saying exactly how many suspects were detained. Read more

“That allows us to concentrate on building an athlete-centred Games for all the Commonwealth.
'It makes sure that the athletes and competitors from the 71 countries have not only the time of their lives but the Games of their lives.”
Glasgow 2014 officials are hoping their two-year campaign will be rewarded as they await the verdict of the 71 voting nations who must decide which city stages the next-but-one Commonwealth Games.
Their rivals from Abuja were predicting that Friday's vote would be close, even though the Nigerian city's bid document was not as well received as Glasgow's proposal.

The Commonwealth Games Federation's report into both bids serves to advise members of the merits of each bid, and Glasgow officials know it would be dangerous to take victory as a foregone conclusion on the basis of that document. Read more
