Development assistance to Pacific islands is still a controvesial matter that continues to exist in this 21st century.
One the one side of the coin, it is a good venture but on the other side it is completely a pampering approach by developed nations. Genuine assistance is not 'giving fish to eat but train someone how to fish'. Japan intense interest is in the vast sea of the Pacific. Pacific islands leaders have to find a way to develop their own fisheries that could sustain and increase their GDP.'Where there is a will there is a heart'. What is given can be sometimes perceived as nothing compared to what is sucked out. It is time to wake up and be more creative and think outside the box. Ai taura ehhhh! E a manga eiwati nakoimi. Ke emanuia te katabanin! |
