“Villages were frequently abandoned even before they were threatened by the progress of war”
- John Bagot Glubb, the commander of Jordan's Arab Legion in the Londion Daily Mail, August 12, 1948
"[Arabs]preferred to abandon their homes, their belongings, and everything they possessed in the world and leave the town.”
-Jamal Husseini, Chairman of the Arab Higher Committee, to the UN Security Council, referring to the Arab evacuation of Haifa, April 23, 1948.
“Arab officers ordered the complete evacuation of specific villages in certain areas, lest their inhabitants ‘treacherously’ acquiesce in Israeli rule or hamper Arab military deployments.”
-Benny Morris, The Birth of the Palestinian Refugee Problem Revisited
The UN resolution called for the returning refugfees to affirm that they would live in peace with their Jewish neighbors. They refused to recognize the existence of the Jewish state and maintained a state of belligerence. Aside from that, Israel conducted a family reunification program which, until the 1990's provided for the readmission of thousands of Arab who fled in 1948.The refusal to extend basic rights of citizenship to Palestinian refugees in the Arab world, simply reflect the contempt in which they are held by their hosts and the fact that the notion of Palestinian nationalism was created only as a means of leverage against Israel. Lest we forget, the term 'Palestinian' also applied to Jews before 1948.

Any Arab having a claim of confiscated property could bring that claim before a special Israeli court set up specifically for that purpose. Over 11,000 claims were resolved in this manner, resulting in the payment of over US$5 million and the transfer of over 20,000 acres of land. Jews lease land PURCHASED from Arabs by the JNF before 1948.
Can we see an article on the 850-thousand Jews allowed back into Syria, Iraq, Lebanon, Egypt, Iran and Yemen to visit their old homes?????????
