Guyana's security forces needs more people- PPP Jagdeo

After 28 years of being the opposition, the PPP took leadership of the Guyana Government in 1992. The party had made a case to the Carter Center that the PNC was a practicing dictatorship and wanted to center to observe the country's elections. The Carter Center agreed and the PPP's indo constituency used their majority populus to vote them into office.

The party harbored bitter resentment towards its black population and blamed them for its 28 years of being in the political wilderness. Once in office, they set about evening the scores and first on their agenda was exiting the blacks from the civil servant and joint service positions. These roles were predominantly occupied by blacks while the private and business sectors were predominantly help by indo groups.

PPP dispatches Ghost Writers to terrorise & intimidate critics into silence

Propaganda Writers - you can see them in the print media and now on the internet. PPP loyalist assigned to be the attack dogs of the party. They skillfully remind critics of the PPP that free speech in Guyana has its limit and will not protect them from the long arms of the government- in fact, they could be arrested for spreading incitement and treason. This tool has proven effective at keeping most of the local critics muzzled. Those who dare to ignore the warnings realize at their peril that the propaganda writer's threats are far from idle.

The Kaieteur Newspaper Columnist, Freddie Kissoon, who in full disclosure stated that he was once a PPP loyalist, penned in several of his opinions that the PPP is fundamentally racist. Mr. Kissoon, who is of Indo descent- equally criticizes the opposition PNC party and therefore cannot be accused of being partisan.

In his frank trademark style, the columnist sounded the alarm when the PPP began dispatching propaganda ghost writers to peruse the media to attack, terrorise, threaten and intimidate critics of the government. According to the Mr Kissoon, the ghost writers use alias with Christian names to deliberately fool the public into thinking that blacks are supportive of the regime. The party is desperate to convince the world that their agenda gets broad ethnic support. This would allay reports of afro marginalization reaching the desks of neighboring caribbean leaders. The PPP however is still not desperate enough to genuinely make the necessary changes to accomodate its black populus and continue to cater only to the needs of its Indo constituents.

A legacy of racial turmoil is what the PPP brings to the table, "a we deh pan tap now" is the modus operandi and "Apan Jhaat" is how it is being achieved.

Racial harassment & Torture of Guyana's Blacks continue under PPP rule

Relatives of Dexter Hosannah, an East Coast Demerara man who was allegedly tortured and had his dreadlocks cut off by members of the joint services in Buxton yesterday morning are calling for justice and said that Blacks are being targeted in the wake of the Lusignan killings.

Up until last evening, the 37-year-old Hosannah was still in police custody and was reported to be suffering from internal damages made evident by his oral letting of blood. Despite, his obvious medical condition, the Police have made no attempts to have the detained victim seek medical help. According to the Joint Services, the man was arrested for questioning. They however refused to say why he was targeted and declined to comment on the allegations made by his relatives about the abuse.

PPP's remarks about Mark Benschop- slanderous and fosters racial incitement

Former Talk Show Host and Social Activist, Mark Benschop chided Public Service Minister Jennifer Westford for hinting in Parliament yesterday that he has ties with criminal gangs in Buxton. The outspoken Journalist stated that he has not ruled out legal action against the PPP cabinet member for harm her remarks has or may cause to his reputation.

Benschop, a former television host, was arrested approximately six years ago and charged with Treason. The PPP asserted that he led a group of rowdy citizens to picket the House of Parliament and by virtue, accused him of trying to over throw the sitting government. While the unarmed but spirited protesters agitated in front of parliament to have a slew of ills corrected, the PPP instructed the guards to open fire, which resulted in several, including women, to be slaughtered. The regime then installed Treason charges against Mr. Benschop and had him immediately arrested and detained.

Human Rights Groups and Critics of the Government asserted that the charges brought against the activist were baseless and politically fabricated. They explained that Benschop had a tendency to shine the spotlight on the ills of the administration, therefore he was seen as a thorn in their side. Mr. Benschop was denied pre-trial liberty when arrested and remained behind bars as an untried, political prisoner for five years. Into his 5th year of detainment, President Jagdeo learned that his allies had successfully lobbied to have his case heard before an international Human Rights Court- suddenly it was decided to set him free vis a vis a pardon.
