By reading this article in the media, I was wondering if the Fijian authorities are scanning each and every individual of a background and criminal history before granting visas.
Women in Fiji have all rights to move around the country freely and should all the time be protected by law. If the Tongan gets convicted, he should be black listed and never again to be allowed to enter Fiji.

I'm a Tongan staying in Fiji and let me tell you that it was really hard for us Tongans in the Suva Community to accept the news when we first heard of it.

Until I was called by the investigator of the case to please visit this poor guy at the Suva Prison where he was being kept for a week now.

I asked him about the whole matter and he denied having known of such incident and I believe him and that he was merely an innocent bystander that was in the wrong place at the wrong time.

I agreed to bail him out and also the interpretor for him durnig the hearing. His case was heard on Wednesday at the Suva Magistrate Court and all the witnesess brough in by the plaintiff and the State Prosecutor have contracting statements and even the victim herself.

It was very clear from the answers of the victim to the questions, that the she was absolutely drunk and was not even able to confirm how she ended up at the seawall.

According to the victim's statement in court she was pushed into the sea and when she climed out of the sea then she saw the accused standing in front of her and the alleged rape took place.

The poor accused was eating his BBQ on his way to his workplace that early morning, when he was suddenly picked up by the police for questioning.

The case is postponed until Monday 20th and I will update you on the latest.

From what I had gathered after the hearing, the guy is innocent and that there is no way that he would have done such stupid act.
