Portugal Telecom Spending $54 Million Upgrading East Timor Network

The chief executive of Portugal Telecom, Zeinal Bava has said that the company is investing over US$54 million in improving the telecommunications network in Timor Leste by the end of 2009.

Because of market share not so promising in TL, government of TL gave a wide latitude to the Telcom Portugal to invest in telecomunication service industry.

Many countries that wanted to invest in telecomunication sector in TL of course aren't happy with what so-called monopoly of Timo Telcom.

By giving a chance to non-Portuguese and non-English speaking countries to invest in telecomunication sector can be presumed as contrapoductive when TL is pulling out all the stops to promote Portuguese and English in TL, especially in a bid to produce generation with high competitiveness.
