Our first hint that something was a bit odd came when we walked out to the street after interviewing the weeping mother of a man who'd been shot to death, and there, in the hot, muggy Dominican Republic sun, were two men on tiny dirt-road motorcycles filming us with video cameras and offering, cryptically, to tell us things we didn't need to know.
