This is peculiar for off-season influenza. UK as a whole is experiencing typical mid-winter flu season incidence of infection and much higher in London and West Midlands.

36k people a year on average die from the usual flu viruses in the US. I'd need to know how many die per year in Britain to make sense of this headline about 14 deaths, even while knowing the real risk of this flu is not whether it's epidemic so much as whether it mutates to something with much higher mortality rates.
