Simeone: Atletico were wasteful

The Argentine was less than impressed with his players after watching them lose their opening Champions League game of the season in Greece Atletico Madrid boss Diego Simeone rued his side's profligacy in front of goal as last season's beaten finalists opened their Champions League campaign with a 3-2 defeat to Olympiakos. The visitors were two goals adrift by the 31st minute following Arthur Masuaku's driven effort and a composed finish from on-loan Barcelona forward Ibrahim Afellay.

Pique claims Catalans have right to...

Barcelona and Spain defender Gerard Pique has thrown his support behind calls for Catalonia to be allowed to hold a vote on independence from Spain. Pique posted pictures to his social media accounts last week of him attending a mass demonstration with his son calling for the Spanish government to allow a referendum similar to that which will take place in Scotland on Thursday.
