Russia, Ecuador praise ties but no rebel recognition

Russian President Dmitry Medvedev and his Ecuadoran counterpart Rafael Correa pledged Thursday to ramp up cooperation in energy and defense as the Kremlin seeks to revive Soviet-era ties with Latin America.
