The Boeing 737-400 plane, registered ET-AQV and being operated by Lomebased ASKY Airlines, which was landing at KIA from Lome, Togo, on Saturday, suffered extensive damage in a runway excursion.

    The government of Togo has summoned officials from Etisalat and Maroc Telecom to the capital Lome, to discuss how the latter's recent acquisition of the Emirati group's assets in Africa will affect local unit Moov Togo. In November 2013 French media group Vivendi signed a definitive agreement to sell its controlling 53% stake in Maroc Telecom to -based Etisalat, going on to complete the deal in May 2014, at which point Etisalat agreed to sell its Atlantique Telecom subsidiaries to Maroc Telecom as part of a wider operational overhaul.

The suspects were arrested on Saturday dawn around 2:30am at a police check-point at Sokode-Lokoe near Ho after the police had a tip-off that they were trying to smuggle the substance to Togo.

The African Development Bank group said today that last month's memo of understanding "marks the beginning of the realization of an idea hatched in the 1970s to provide sustainable drinking water" from Sogakope, Ghana, to Lome as well as Ghana communities along the transboundary pipeline, African Water Facility coordinator Akissa Bahri said.
