    Cousin of Umarali Kuvatov, leader of Group 24 Tajik opposition movement killed in Istanbul this month, has become a new chairman of the movement recognized in Tajikistan as extremist. The Group 24 Political Council said on March 12 that Sharofiddin Gadoyev has been elected as the new chairman of the Group 24. Kuvatov, 47, was killed in Turkey on March 6. A tycoon who once had close ties with President Emomali Rahmon but became an opponent, Kuvatov was wanted by Dushanbe on fraud charges that he said were politically motivated.
