    Wladyslaw Bartoszewski, a former Foreign Minister of Poland, noted historian, journalist, author, and Honorary Citizen of Israel who was recognized as Righteous Among the Nations and was a former inmate of Auschwitz died on Friday at age 93. Active on many fronts and energetic almost until the end, Bartoszewski, at meetings with Israeli officials, always quipped that he was older than Shimon Peres, thus pre-empting comparisons between the Polish-born equally active and energetic Peres and himself. Bartoszewski who opposed both the Nazis and the Communists and was incarcerated by both, met Peres on several occasions.
