    Despite the lack of a local diabetes registry and 'lack of sufficient data' on the problem of diabetes in American Samoa, physicians and other health care providers continue to push for prevention efforts because statistics that are on hand have revealed that diabetes is so prevalent in the territory - and prevention should be the major local push. Diabetes was a priority issue discussed at last Saturday's inaugural Medical Symposium, which was hosted jointly by the LBJ Medical Center and the Department of Health with the goal to combat non-communicable diseases in American Samoa.
