    Buy The Ticket, Take The Ride , the 2009 debut album by Australian duo The Black Ryder , earned the group a prime spot in the darker, more psychedelically inclined end of the rock scene, as well as praise and working relationships with more established artists like Swervedriver and The Brian Jonestown Massacre. Since then the pair have relocated to L.A. and recorded an epic follow-up, The Door Behind the Door , due out Feb. 24. The track "Let Me Be Your Light" gives a good idea what the band's all about, mixing shoegaze's textural sprawl with an entrancing gloominess that nods heavily toward ethereal goth acts like Dead Can Dance.

Davies, who joined the group in the 1990s, launched court action against Newcombe over the ownership of a number of tracks released prior to his departure in 2002.
