    Mayor Andrew Montelibano of Murcia and Mayor Jose Max Ortiz of Don Salvador Benedicto lead the mayors who voted against the demolition of the illegal structures inside the Northern Negros Forest Reserve in Tuesday's PAMB meeting. THE Social Action Center of the Diocese of Bacolod, along with some environmental groups, declared on Wednesday that the voting held by the members of the Protected Area Management Board on the demolition of illegal structures inside the Northern Negros Natural Park was null and void.

    AS A young boy , I was told by Vicente Villanueva , the father-in-law of Ceriaco Luces , that the name Silay could have originated from Silay trees growing abundantly in the area above the estuary of the body of water having its mouth in the place now known as Barangay Mambulac. In the book "Substance and Purpose" , it was mentioned by Dr. Locsin that Silay could have been named after Capitana Silay who owned the land to which the town was moved.
