    The signing of veteran quarterback Josh McCown kicked off the player-acquisition part of the offseason for the Browns, who've also shown interest in receiver Brian Hartline and returner Ted Ginn Jr. The Browns' philosophy under owner Jimmy Haslam and general manager Ray Farmer is to build through the draft, but free agency must augment Cleveland's favorite holiday. Especially for a team perpetually trying to close the gap in the AFC North and make the playoffs for the first time since 2002, and that must use some of the roughly $50 million it has under the salary cap.
