    Hundreds of Chatham County residents went to the polls on Sunday after the county's Board of Registrars unanimously approved opening the polls on a Sunday for the first time from noon-5 p.m. at the Board of Registrars Main Office on Eisenhower Drive. Sandra Williams, executive director of Chatham County Voter Registration, said 767 people voted on Sunday in Chatham County, about 100 more people on average than had shown up at the polls each of the 10 previous days since early voting began.

    A woman was killed late Wednesday when she was thrown from a van that collided with a tractor-trailer rig at a crossroads north of Homerville, the Georgia State Patrol said. Doriya Beshae Hill, 36, of Valdosta, was driving a 2002 Fort Windstar van west on Georgia 122 about 4:40 p.m. when she failed to see the stop sign at the intersection with U.S. 441, the state patrol said.
