    A Grand Rapids man was sentenced to 15 to 40 years in prison for breaking into a Howell-area home and pretending to be a narcotics agent. The Livingston Daily reported Livingston County Circuit Judge Michael P. Hatty sentenced Richard J. Quam for 28-counts including single counts of armed robbery and home invasion and multiple counts of unlawful imprisonment and felonious assault.

The report, distributed by the Michigan League for Public Policy, analyzed the status of children in terms of their economic security, health, family and community and education and listed Jackson County as 69th among the state's 83 counties. The top rankings went to Livingston County east of Lansing and Ottawa County west of Grand Rapids.
