The story of what happened to the surviving documents that were pulled from the smoldering ruins has never been told, until now, the 140th anniversary of the fire.

    One of the county's priorities for the upcoming state legislative session is already a big focus of some Virginia lawmakers - industrial residuals, better known as sludge. Del. Chris Peace, R-97, has pre-filed legislation for the 2015 General Assembly that would place a freeze on any future applications of sludge within the 97th District, which contains parts of Hanover, King William and New Kent counties.
