    What began as a report of a trespasser on private property late Saturday afternoon resulted in the seizure of the largest amount of marijuana in Johnston County history, the shutdown of a major drug-trafficking operation and the arrest of three individuals, according to the Johnston County Sheriff's Office. Johnston County Sheriff Jon Smith said his office received a call from Game Warden Curtis Latham at approximately 4:30 p.m. Saturday stating that a deer hunter had observed a Hispanic male carrying a bucket of water in a remote ranch area northeast of Mannsville and reported it to the warden.

Ernesto Rodriguez, 41, was killed Wednesday afternoon while his employer, Mercer Well Service, was conducting workover operations on an XTO Energy Inc. well in Johnston County.
