    The Jefferson County Commission on Thursday approved a tax break of $230,000 a year for the next 10 years, which will help keep facilities running while adding other amenities at the U.S. Steel production sites in Fairfield, according to a report from Fox 6. Under the first abatement, U.S. Steel will be allowed to invest $230 million in technology for an electric arc furnace to compliment an existing steel mill in Fairfield, along with a second abatement that will create a Fairfield-based manufacturing facility for tubular products with a capital investment of $47.5 million.
