    Deputies found over 7,700 growing marijuana plants and the illegal drafting of water - but no suspects - during investigations in two rural areas of Humboldt County this week, the sheriff's office announced Wednesday. According to a Humboldt County Sheriff's Office press release, the California Campaign Against Marijuana Planting helped deputies eradicate 4,376 plants ranging from 4-6 feet tall in the Blocksburg and Dobbins Creek area on Monday.

    The Humboldt County Coroner's Office has identified the woman killed Monday after losing control of her vehicle on U.S. Highway 101 near the St. Louis Road overpass in Arcata as Hoopa resident Millie Elaine Blake, 18. The incident occurred around 2:15 p.m. when Blake drove her Toyota 4runner through a Caltrans construction zone and across a grass median, according to the CHP. The vehicle then flipped across the northbound lanes of the highway and landed on its roof on the northbound shoulder.
