    According to a press release from Holmes County Sheriff's Office, a deputy initiated a traffic stop involving a motorcycle near the intersection of State Highways 2 and 179A, when the driver fled until he eventually crashed in Geneva County, Ala. John C. Lewis, Jr. of Bonifay was transported to a local hospital, where he was treated for his injuries.

The family is in need of food, monetary doantions, and clothing, including men's large shirts, 32/34 and 36/34 pants, and size 10.5 and 11 shoes.

    The Office of the State Attorney says it won't pursue criminal child abuse or endangerment charges against a Bonifay Elementary School teacher who was found to have been under the influence if illicit drugs while in her classroom. BES third grader teacher Dawn Hersman was placed on an "indefinite leave of absence" by the Holmes County School Board last month after a complaint was filed alleging the teacher was involved in drug related activity.

The caller reported a structure fire at a commercial building at the intersection of Highway 177-A and Marian Drive.

    The Bonifay Police Department reports the arrest of a Westville woman for calling in "multiple" false child abuse reports to the state's abuse hotline. Jessica Elizabeth Combee, 28, of Westville, is charged with 28 felony counts of the false reports, which were reportedly filed by Combee against two Holmes County households.
