    A Dakota County jury on Tuesday acquitted Francis Hoefgen, a former Hastings priest, of two counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct following a trial on accusations of decades-old abuse. Hoefgen, who is no longer a priest and lives in Columbia Heights, was accused of repeatedly abusing a boy who was a student at the parochial school at St. Boniface Church between 1989 and 1992.

    Two local men were detained by Inver Grove Heights police officers for vandalism in a Dakota County park area Wednesday, May 6. The suspects, Frank Rileyjack Ramos, 20, Inver Grove Heights, and Luis Manuel Sevilla-Preciado, 21, West St. Paul, were then turned over to the Dakota County Sheriff's Department and issued misdemeanor citations by a deputy of the county's parks, lakes and trails division. Initially, a resident visiting the newly constructed Rock Island Swing Bridge Trailhead facility in Inver Grove Heights observed the young men vandalizing the restroom using spray paint.
