Officials told Channel 9 that a 5-year-old was hit by a vehicle in the 500 block of Maiden around 7 a.m. There was no immediate word on the severity of the child's injuries but officials did tell Channel that the 5-year-old would be flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte.
