Louisiana Tech eco car team members Matt Condon , Evan McDougall , Timothy Parker , Paul Puneky and Xavier Theriot along with team advisor, Dr. Michael Swanbom, lecturer of mechanical engineering at Louisiana Tech, were invited to participate in the event and had an opportunity to brief the drivers and the media on fuel efficiency and driving strategies for the vehicles.

Dennis, Circuit Judge for the U.S. Fifth District Circuit Court of Appeals, who supported the creation of an endowed professorship in Sachs's name, and Dr. Pat Garrett, current holder of the Hyman J. Sachs Endowed Professorship.
