    By ERIC FRANCIS, Standard Correspondent WOODSTOCK - A Woodstock woman will spend over a year in federal prison in Connecticut and has been ordered to pay back all of the $228,675 she was convicted of embezzling from the Shire Inn during the years when she worked as the motel's bookkeeper. Pamela Smith, 57, was ordered by a federal judge to report to the Federal Correctional Institute Danbury's minimum security "satellite camp" on October 28 to begin serving her 15-month sentence.

    Although the check is not yet in hand, Village officials and Sustainable Woodstock representatives heard from state officials last week that they are recipients of a $175,000 community development block grant to build a new snow dump on the east end. This grant means the snow dump can be moved to the 2.1 acre parcel the Village Trustees plan to purchase from the Woodstock Inn off Maxham Meadow Way without requiring the residents to bear the burden of the construction cost - something the Trustees said they would not do.

    A Woodstock man has been charged with leaving the scene of an accident following a rollover which appears to have occurred around midnight on Saturday that totaled his pickup truck on the Pomfret Stage Road. Aaron Hull, 35, "was nowhere to be found" when Vermont State Police troopers arrived and discovered Hull's 2012 Chevy Silverado lying on its side "nearly in the Suicide Six parking lot," Trooper Stacy Corliss recalled.
