    Sat., Feb. 28, 10 a.m. Town Hall Voting Tues., March 4, 7 a.m. - 7 p.m. Town Hall Woodstock voters will gather at Town Hall this Saturday at 10 a.m. to first consider a Woodstock Elementary School budget that is an overall increase of 0.0676 percent over the previous year and then a $4,710,630 town budget, among other Town Meeting issues. During the Town Meeting portion, voters will also consider whether to add a 1 percent local options tax on rooms, meals, prepared food and alcoholic beverages in order to support economic development and whether to vote on all public questions by Australian ballot rather than the traditional town meeting voice vote.

    A Woodstock police officer appeared in handcuffs before a judge on Wednesday afternoon and pleaded innocent to both felony and misdemeanor counts of domestic assault the day after his wife contacted authorities and said she wanted a restraining order. Mark McComas, 45, who has been a Woodstock officer for the past nine months and prior to that an officer with the neighboring Hartford Police Department for approximately four years, was released on pre-trial conditions, including a restriction against possessing any firearms, while his case is pending.
