    In 15 Luzerne County municipalities, emergency medical responders took more than 16 minutes to arrive on scene for at least 30 percent of calls, a new state study shows. The state used 16 minutes as a benchmark because the data showed 90 percent of all response times countywide were at or below that amount, the study says.

    A man from New Jersey is facing charges in Luzerne County Court for allegedly smuggling cigarettes without a Pennsylvania tax stamp on each pack. Court papers for Frainel Jesus Mones, 27, of Passaic, were recently filed in the Clerk of Courts office stemming from a traffic stop for speeding on Interstate 80 near White Haven on Oct. 24. State police at Hazleton said Mones was stopped for driving 72 mph in a 65 mph zone.
