    There was no Friday the 13th curse for the three teams that make up the West Union High School boys basketball program as the trio of Dragon teams hit the road on Feb. 13 for Southern Hills Athletic Conference battles with the Ripley Blue Jays. The night was one of the most productive of the season for the Dragons as they turned in a clean sweep on the river, winning the freshman, JV, and varsity games.

    Jerry Kirker, village administrator and West Union Fire Chief, gave his report to council, noting first the water main break on Saturday, Jan. 17 on the south end of state Route 41. After shutting the water off, cutting off some of the businesses and residents of water, workers replaced 42 inches of 8-inch pipe that had been damaged by the burst. Kirker then addressed the water towers in West Union, noting that the construction of the new water tower was on pace.
