That's the town's portion of $30 million specifically aimed at helping cities and towns across the state patch potholes, cracked pavement and surface defects as well as repair or replace signs, guardrails, storm drains and line stripping damaged during the historic winter the area just experienced.

    An environmental advocacy group says it will appeal a court decision dismissing its lawsuit against the state for failing to adopt strict limits on greenhouse gas emissions.     National Grid's customers in Wellesley and Massachusetts -- nearly one million basic service electricity customers and approximately 900,000 natural gas customers -- can anticipate lower bills this spring as energy costs decline, according to company officials. Starting May 1, if approved by the Massachusetts Department of Public Utilities, typical residential customers using 500 kWh of electricity who receive basic service will see an electric bill that is 26 percent lower than their current bill.
