Trumbull County Coroner Dr. Humphrey Germaniuk said it was clear that the man, identified as homeowner Charles McNear, 53, and a woman in the house, presumed to be McNear's girlfriend, Sophie Stefek, 41, died before the fire was started because neither had any carbon monoxide in their lungs, which is evidence that the fire didn't cause their deaths.
