Simmons was driving north on Route 1 at about 7:30 a.m. March 20, when his 1997 GMC Sierra pickup truck crossed the center line near the intersection of Western Road and struck a southbound 2003 Subaru Forester driven by Alison Low of Warren .

    A 62-year-old former Knox County Jail guard was sentenced Friday to five years in prison with all but one year suspended after being convicted of sexually assaulting three female inmates. Richard S. Wellington of Warren pleaded no contest in Knox County Superior Court to two counts of unlawful sexual contact and 17 counts of unlawful touching involving three women being held at the jail.

    The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested a Warren man and a couple from Massachusetts on Monday on prescription drug trafficking and possession charges after a three-month investigation into drug activity in midcoast Maine. Arrested were: Allen Cooper, 37, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, who was charged with felony trafficking in oxycodone; Amanda Restel, 33, also of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, who was charged with possession of Suboxone; and Robert Colpritt, 36, of Warren, who was charged with felony trafficking in oxycodone, Maine Department of Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Tuesday night in a news release.
