    A 19-year-old Spruce Head man was indicted Friday on a charge of manslaughter in connection with a March 2014 head-on crash on Route 1 in Warren that claimed the life of a 38-year-old woman. Simmons was driving north on Route 1 at about 7:30 a.m. March 20, when his 1997 GMC Sierra pickup truck crossed the center line near the intersection of Western Road and struck a southbound 2003 Subaru Forester driven by Alison Low of Warren .

Richard S. Wellington of Warren pleaded no contest in Knox County Superior Court to two counts of unlawful sexual contact and 17 counts of unlawful touching involving three women being held at the jail.

    The Maine Drug Enforcement Agency arrested a Warren man and a couple from Massachusetts on Monday on prescription drug trafficking and possession charges after a three-month investigation into drug activity in midcoast Maine. Arrested were: Allen Cooper, 37, of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, who was charged with felony trafficking in oxycodone; Amanda Restel, 33, also of Pittsfield, Massachusetts, who was charged with possession of Suboxone; and Robert Colpritt, 36, of Warren, who was charged with felony trafficking in oxycodone, Maine Department of Safety spokesman Stephen McCausland said Tuesday night in a news release.

    A Warren man was indicted for aggravated assault by a Lincoln County grand jury earlier this month after allegedly strangling a woman and otherwise assaulting her in a car in Bremen on Aug. 8. Lincoln County Sheriff's Deputy Justin Drake interviewed the woman at LincolnHealth - Miles Campus Aug. 9, the day after the alleged assault, which was domestic in nature, occurred. According to Drake's affidavit, the woman said she and Baughman had met at a mutual friend's house in Bremen on Aug. 8. After Baughman and the woman left the house in a vehicle, "as he was driving he assaulted her by pulling her hair and slamming her head around the interior," Drake wrote.

According to police, agents observed Long getting ready to make a transaction in the parking lot near Auto Zone at about 3 p.m. Upon searching the woman, agents found about 15 grams of cocaine, some of which was packaged for resale.
