Heading into today's final 18 holes at the co-hosted event at Kinderlou Forest Club and Valdosta Country Club, a team of Clay Gardner of Newnan and John Miles Jr. of Fayetteville held down first place in the First Flight after posting consecutive rounds of 70. Gardner and Miles Jr. take a one-stroke lead into today's final 18 holes after combining for four birdies, matching Friday's day-one total.

Facing elimination following an opening 6-3 loss, Loveless held the Vikettes to four hits and Newnan's bats continued to heat up in the nightcap after scoring runs in three of its last four at-bats of Game 1 while improving its overall record to 18-15 and coming within a victory of returning to the GHSA Class AAAAAA Elite 8 in Columbus next week.
