    The Ukiah City Council is expected to hear an update tonight on a six-month program collecting food waste from city residents, a pilot it was required to embark on that did not prove successful. According to Public Works Director Tim Eriksen's report, only 143 residents agreed to participate in the program, which had the city's garbage hauler, Ukiah Waste Solutions, part of C&S Waste Solutions, providing them a fourth can they could put egg shells, soiled paper towels and other food-related items in before putting it out to be picked up with their other three cans.
