    A Ukiah man was arrested on suspicion of drunken driving Monday after allegedly running a red light, hitting a business and fighting with officers, the Ukiah Police Department reported. According to the UPD, at least two people called around 1:55 p.m. Dec. 15 to report that a man driving a white pickup truck had "blown through" a red light at the intersection of Washington Avenue and South State Street while heading south on South State Street at about 50 mph.

    Firefighters come to the aid of a cat that had crawled up into a chimney from inside a home at the corner of West Mill and McPeak streets. A cat that had been "napping" in a chimney for two days was rescued by firefighters Monday morning, the Ukiah Valley Fire Authority reported.

    A 12-year-old Ukiah boy was arrested last week for allegedly bringing cookies containing marijuana to school, the Ukiah Police Department reported. According to the UPD, an officer responded to Pomolita Middle School around 9:45 a.m. Dec. 8 when it was reported that a student was selling marijuana.

    A 16-year-old Ukiah resident suspected of driving a car that led officers on a high-speed chase earlier this year was arrested in Vinewood Park last Sunday, the Ukiah Police Department reported. According to the UPD, officers responded to the park in the 1200 block of Elm Street around 12:30 p.m. Dec. 7 when it was reported that someone in a group had pulled out a knife.
