    The Ukiah Planning Commission unanimously approved the permits requested by Ukiah Valley Medical Center in order to move its emergency department and helicopter landing site. “This will relocate the Emergency Department and Intensive Care Unit from the front of the hospital to the rear of the building to separate it from the main flow of the building,” Planning Director Charley Stump told the commission to introduce the project.

With the telescope it was built for returned, Park Interpreter Martin Bradley recently employed the same sophisticated equipment they used 100 years ago to open the ceiling of the Ukiah Latitude Observatory.

Commissioned by the Smithsonian's Museum of Natural History, “Ocean Odyssey” takes viewers on an undersea journey to remote and magical places as it explores an array of marine ecosystems.

    Pomolita Middle School Art, also known as the Hazel Street Gallery for the street where the classroom is located, will present its first annual show of student art work this March at the Arts Council of Mendocino County. The reception for the artists will be Friday, March 6, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Arts Council gallery, located at the Ukiah Depot, 309 E. Perkins St. The show will include artwork from more than 150 student artists, including seventh- and eighth-graders from Pomolita Middle School, and guest artists, the advanced art class of Ukiah High School.
