    Central Illinois residents are being invited by the Tolono Fire Protection District to celebrate their new fire station at a public dedication ceremony and open house on March 29. Officials say the ceremony will begin at 3:00 p.m. at the new fire station, located at 214 North Bourne Street in Tolono. Following the ceremony, an open house will be held until 5:00 p.m. Tolono Fire Protection District members will be on hand to give tours of the station, as well as show off some of the equipment used by the department.

    A former Savoy man convicted of the first-degree murder of his younger brother is headed to prison for 65 years, 30 more than he had received for the crime almost four years ago. The sentence is the second imposed on Brian Maggio, 46, for the July 21, 2010, shooting death of his brother, Mark Maggio, 32. The younger Maggio was gunned down by his brother at the now-closed Tolono IGA that the two of them owned together.
