    In a surprise move, the Susanville City Council directed city staff to create an ordinance that would ban the cultivation of medical marijuana with the city limits. According to its agenda, the council was to approve the second reading of an ordinance that would have allowed medical marijuana cultivation with a number of restrictions in response to complaints from residents and public safety concerns from law enforcement.

Robins - the Archangels of Justice - a pair of seasoned law enforcement officers coming to Susanville to investigate the circumstances surrounding the September 2011 death of Angel Siler, 23. Michelle Cavalin, Siler's mother, alleges her daughter was drugged, raped and murdered, the Susanville Police Department did not investigate the case properly, and no one has been held accountable for her death. A rally to stop violence against women in Lassen County will begin at 11 a.m. Tuesday, May 12 at the corner of Riverside and Main streets before traveling to the Lassen County Hall of Justice.

    According to a press release from the Susanville Police Department, former Susanville resident William Joaquin Romero, 36, was taken into custody at his residence on Josephine Street in Alturas, California about 6:45 p.m. Wednesday, May 6 on a felony arrest warrant issued by the Lassen County Superior Court. Detectives from the Susanville Police Department with assistance from an officer from the Alturas Police Department arrested Romero.
