Maritime Administration to Provide Title XI Loan Guarantee for World's First LNG Containerships Today, the U.S. Maritime Administration announced a $324.6 million loan guarantee for TOTE Shipholdings and Saltchuk Resources for their Marlin Class vessels. The two new Marlin Class vessels, which will be the world's first liquefied natural gas powered containerships, will serve the Puerto Rico trade and will be complete in 2015 and 2016. Comment?

Minimum propulsion power evaluation software extended to calculate added resistance in irregular waves Classification society ClassNK has released the latest version of its PrimeShip-GREEN/MinPower software. The software was originally developed by ClassNK and released in April 2014 to help shipyards comply with amendments to MARPOL Annex VI, specifically EEDI requirements, by calculating minimum propulsion power requirements in compliance with the IMO 2013 INTERIM GUIDELINES FOR DETERMINING MINIMUM PROPULSION POWER TO MAINTAIN THE MANOEUVRABILITY OF SHIPS IN ADVERSE CONDITIONS. NOAA today announced that Lake Assault Boats of Superior, Wisconsin, will build two small vessels for the Office of Coast Survey's navigation response program, part of a plan to eventually replace all six of the program's small survey boats. The combined cost of both 28-foot vessels is $538,200. Comment?
