    How do you control a revved up crowd of thousands of alcohol-drinking college-age adults who traditionally amass on the beach at St. Simons Island on the eve of the annual Georgia-Florida football game in Jacksonville? Eliminating alcohol on what is popularly known as "Frat Beach" during the University of Georgia-University of Florida football weekend is one proposal county officials and community representatives are considering. Some 30 people gathered Wednesday at the Brunswick-Glynn County Chamber of Commerce to begin working on a way to get a handle on the beach party that requires a presence of police and EMTS because of the amount of drinking that goes on Friday before the game.

    The annual Frat Beach drinking party on St. Simons Island during Georgia-Florida football weekend in late October is a disaster waiting to happen, island businessman Cap Fendig said, and he is asking the Glynn County Commission to intervene. The event draws University of Georgia fraternity and sorority members and others to the beach on the Friday before the game is played in Jacksonville, and the party often gets out of control, Fendig said.

Promising "refined, southern comfort cuisine derived from a collection of family recipes," the Pope brothers have also built out the second story of the 229 E. Broad Street location to include a bar that will focus on classic cocktails and craft beer, according to a news release.

Moore Jr. in hopes of persuading Moore to accept more UGA law students as law clerks in the Southern District.
