    Town councilors on Thursday voted 6-2 to adopt a fiscal 2016 general fund operating budget of $48,507,028, raising and appropriating $44.8 million and transferring from available money more than $3.6 million. In doing so, the council added $36,869 to the underperforming school district's budget, bringing it to  $25,574,689.  Councilors had the opportunity to add another $58,366 to the school budget, from an anticipated $108,336 in unrestricted general government aid that had not been budgeted.
