    9 a.m., Aug. 19 - Officers stopped a vehicle at Avenida Montezuma and Avenida Velasco, where they contacted a 19-year-old man and 22-year-old man, both from La Quinta. The 22-year-old driver was found to be an ex-felon and in possession of an unregistered firearm and ammunition, police said. Officers found a Ruger 9mm handgun, extended magazines, and 366 rounds of 9mm ammunition in the glove compartment. The men were arrested on suspicion of outstanding warrants, drug possession and an unregistered firearm. 10:45 p.m., Aug. 20 - A domestic violence disturbance was reported in the 77-900 block of Calle Sonora. The victim said she was assaulted by her estranged boyfriend, a 32-year-old man from Indio, who then fled the area. Following up on information obtained at the scene, officers found the suspect in Indio and arrested him on suspicion of domestic battery. 2 p.m., Aug. 22 - Jewelry stolen during a La Quinta burglary was discovered in a pawn shop. Officers learned the identity of the 23-year-old La Quinta man who pawned the jewelry, and discovered he was already in jail on a separate matter. The suspect confessed to committing burglaries within La Quinta, then pawning the jewelry. Additional burglary charges were filed against him. 12:28 a.m., Aug. 23 - A traffic stop was made at Washington Street and Avenue of the States. After smelling the odor of marijuana from the vehicle and seeing an open container, the officer asked both occupants to exit the vehicle. During a search, the officer reported finding more than an ounce of marijuana and more than 50 pills suspected to be morphine, OxyContin and valium. The driver, a 20-year-old man from Indio, was arrested on suspicion of possession and transportation of narcotics. The passenger, a 20-year-old man from La Quinta, was arrested on suspicion of being under the influence of a controlled substance.
