    SILVER CITY >> Grant County Sheriff's office has obtained a warrant for the arrest of Steven Morales, 36, who law enforcement believe was involved in the alleged homicide of Esteban Ortega on Jan. 14, according to a news release. The warrant, obtained from the Sixth Judicial District Court, is for one open count of murder, a first-degree felony, and tampering with evidence, a fourth-degree felony.

Officers were told by the owner of the house that Richard Mendoza, 27, of Silver City, had pointed a gun at him when he was in the house with Mendoza and his sister, Stephanie Mendoza, and her boyfriend.
