    RICHMOND, Ind. - Gilbert P. Andrews, age 88, of Richmond, died Friday, July 25, 2014, at Reid Hospital. Born December 23, 1925, in Lebanon, Indiana, to David Wilbur and Emma Elizabeth Shroyer Andrews, he had lived in this area since August of 2011. Gilbert served in the United States Army. He was a salesman and Department Manager for Sears, Roebuck and Company for 40 years. Gilbert was a member of First Methodist Church in Hudson, Florida, and the Barber Shop Quartet in Henry County, Indiana. Gilbert was interested in many reed instruments, marching bands, and artists. He enjoyed bowling and sports. Survivors include his daughter, Nancy (James) Winn of Greens Fork, Indiana; son, Larry Andrews of Hillsboro, Ohio; grandchildren, Jessica (Daniel Ashcroft) Andrews, Jimmy (Megan) Andrews, Wesley Winn, Stacey Winn, and Wendy Oberle; great-grandchildren, Oliver Andrews, Brookelynn Wilson, Emma Wilson, C.J. Sharp, Christina Oberle, and Joe Oberle; brothers, David Andrews and Rev. Joseph Andrews; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty J. Andersen who died on February 8, 2005; parents; and step-mother, Philomena Wunder Andrews. A Memorial Service for Gilbert P. Andrews will be held at the convenience of the family. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond.     RICHMOND, Ind. - Joan L. Fishback age 92, of Richmond, passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2014, at Friends Fellowship Community. Born August 23, 1921, in Cambridge, Massachusetts, to Edward E. and Elizabeth Biggert Landers, Joan graduated from high school in Newton, Massachusetts. She earned a physical therapy license from Bouve School in Boston. During World War II, Joan was commissioned as an officer in the U.S. Army Medical Corps and was the first physical therapist to serve in the China-Burma-India Theater, where she set up and ran the therapy programs at army hospitals in Calcutta, India and Kunming, China. After being discharged in 1946, she completed a bachelor's degree at Tufts University and then worked as a physical therapist at the Boston Veteran Administration Hospital, ultimately becoming chief therapist. In Richmond, Joan worked as a physical therapist for Colonial Crest Convalescent Center, served on the boards of R.S.V.P. and Meals-on-Wheels, and was active in the Society for Preservation and Use of Resources. She delivered Meals-on-Wheels herself for over 20 years and was active in First Friends Meeting and numerous other organizations. Survivors include her son, Paul (Barbara) Fishback of Grandville, Michigan, and two grandchildren, Margaret Fishback and Andrew Fishback, both of Michigan. She was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, William Fishback who died on March 9, 2014, and brother, Edward Landers Jr. who died serving his country during the war. A memorial service for Joan L. Fishback will be held at 3:00 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2014, at Friends Fellowship Community in the Community Room, 2030 Chester Blvd., Richmond. Arrangements are being handled by Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Memorial gifts may be made to: Girls Inc. of Wayne County, P.O. Mr. Hoober farmed all of his life and was retired from Harvestland CO-OP. He attended the New Liberty Christian Church near Lynn. Mr. Hoober will be missed by his wife, the former Mary Fraze, to whom he was married on November 29, 1953; daughters, Lois Moland and Lora Simmons and her husband, Donnie; grandchildren, Lisha Moland and Jarrod Fisher; step-grandson, Chris Simmons; great-grandchildren, Dillion McAbee and Kameron Fugiatt; sisters, Florence Weist, Peg LeVault, Joyce Bagwell and Jackie Kincaid; brothers, Mike Hoober, Terry Hoober and Tim Hoober; and several nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Ray Ellis and Dale Bales will conduct a funeral ceremony at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, July 30, in the Smith & McQuiston Funeral Home, 321 US 27 South, Fountain City. Interment with military rites will follow in Mooreland Cemetery in Henry County. Family & friends may gather for visitation from 6-8 pm on Tuesday, July 29, at the funeral home.
