    RICHMOND, Ind. - Donald B. McClurg, age 83, of Richmond, died Thursday, September 11, 2014, at Arbor Trace Exceptional Living. Born March 28, 1931, in Fort Wayne, Indiana, to Nelson D. and Francis Edna Taylor McClurg, Don has lived in this area since 1965. He was a graduate of Central High School in Fort Wayne. Don graduated from Ball State University and earned his M.S. at Butler University. He served in the U.S. Army from 1953-1955. Don served in public education for 38 years and retired in 1990 from the Centerville-Abington School Corporation, where he had been the Principal at the Rose Hamilton Elementary School for 21 years. After his retirement he has worked at the Miller's Milk House and for the Indiana Division of Family and Children in Wayne and Union County. Don has been a volunteer at Reid Hospital for a number of years. He was a member of Central Christian Church, Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity, and Bible Study Fellowship. Survivors include his wife, Doris Rauch McClurg to whom he was married on July 13, 2008; daughter, Diane (Joseph) McClurg Sanders of Kennewick, Washington; step-daughters, Connie (Roger) Keller of Hickory, North Carolina, Judy Hively of Cincinnati, Ohio, and Sally (Bob) Tyler of Muncie, Indiana; grandchildren, Malia Sanders and Taylor Sanders, both of Washington; brother, Leslie Wayne McClurg of Fort Wayne, Indiana; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many friends. He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister, and first wife, Joan Hamling McClurg. Visitation for Donald B. McClurg will be from 1 to 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home, 790 National Road West, Richmond. Funeral service will be at 3:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Doan & Mills Funeral Home with Chaplain Edward R. McFarland officiating. Burial will be in Earlham Cemetery in the Veterans Field of Honor with military honors provided by the Wayne County Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to: Widowed Persons Services, 1600 South 2nd Street, Richmond, IN 47374 or Central Christian Church 4511 National Road West, Richmond, IN 47374. Condolences may be sent to the family via the guest book at www.doanmillsfuneralhome.com.

She was a Richmond High School graduate and a CNA for many years. Survivors include her mother, Cathryn J. Coblentz McAdams of Richmond; father, Kim (Ruth) Shores of Whiteland, Indiana; children, Brayden Wicks, Jayden Wicks, Landon Wicks, and their father, Brandon Wicks, all of Centerville and Mason Prows and his father, George Prows, both of Richmond; sister, Sara (Frank) Taylor of Greenwood, Indiana; brothers, Shane (Crystal) McAdams of Richmond and Jason (Melissa) Shores of Auburn, Indiana; step-sister, Lynn (Jeff) Byrum of Zionsville, Indiana; step-brother, Josh (Lara) Rogers of Whiteland, Indiana; nieces and nephews, including Cody, Jordan, Seth, Gage, and Lotus McAdams, all of Richmond; aunts and uncles, including Liz Coblentz Parent of Florida and Joe Coblentz Jr. of Richmond; cousins, including Krysta Buchholz and Michael and Jessie Coblentz; and many friends. She was preceded in death by an infant; maternal grandparents; and paternal grandparents. Memorial visitation for Jaala McAdams will be held from 6 to 7:00 p.m. Tuesday, September 16, 2014, at Turning Point Church, 3600 N. Morton St., Franklin, Indiana.
